Political Science PhD candidates, Beenish Pervaiz and Sanne Verschuren will be organizing a speaker series on international security in South Asia for the upcoming academic year. The series will highlight speakers who will discuss a range of international security topics, including nuclear weapons, conventional force structure, civil-military relations, and inter-state rivalry.
Pervaiz is a first-year graduate student with a focus in international relations. She is interested in exploring how global norms around emerging technologies as well as WMD threats can be developed to mitigate risk especially in countries with vulnerable threat landscapes.
Verschuren is a fourth-year Ph.D. Candidate with a focus on international relations. Her research interests include the development of weapon technology, shifts in military strategy and tactics, and the role of ideas and norms therein.
